Rehabilitation and the empowerment of individuals immersed in the process.
BFFDAF’s primary goal is to prevent alcohol and drug abuse by educating youth. However, we also encounter individuals already struggling with substance and alcohol abuse who wish to recover. We refer these individuals to rehab, covering all costs during their stay. Throughout the rehabilitation process, BFFDA supports them physically, emotionally, and, most importantly, financially.
The Detox process. The detox process involves eliminating drugs or alcohol from your system after extended use. While this can be challenging, it’s crucial to clear these substances from your body to prepare you physically and mentally for rehabilitation.
If you abruptly stop using a highly addictive substance (like heroin, morphine, benzodiazepines, or alcohol), you may face uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. Often, medication is provided to alleviate these symptoms. Therapy Different therapies will be utilized throughout recovery based on your needs and the rehab program.
Individual Therapy: You will engage in one-on-one sessions with a mental health professional. These sessions allow for an honest reflection on yourself, your addiction, and its impact on your life. This self-exploration can be instrumental in your healing. Your therapist will help identify triggers for your addiction and teach constructive coping strategies.
An addiction specialist will tailor therapy types to fit your unique needs. Therapy can vary widely, but research indicates that behavioral therapies are particularly effective for treating addictions. Two common forms are cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
Cognitive behavioral therapy aids in understanding the beliefs and behaviors that lead to substance use while teaching healthy coping mechanisms for recovery. Motivational interviewing involves a counselor asking questions like “Why do you want to stop drinking?” or “How has substance use affected your life?” The aim is to address the ambivalence many feel about change and reinforce their commitment to a substance-free life
Family Counseling Studies show that involving family and friends in recovery significantly enhances rehab outcomes. Consequently, many addiction rehab centers offer family therapy as part of their programs.
Family members are often deeply impacted by a loved one’s addiction. Family counseling provides a safe environment for sharing experiences and understanding how they may have contributed to the addiction. Addressing these complex emotions can foster healing and growth.
During family counseling, your relatives will also learn about addiction dynamics and how best to support you post-rehab
Many programs involve family and friends throughout the rehabilitation process, from the initial assessment to aftercare. Some require family members to attend Al-Anon meetings if they wish to visit during treatment.
Aftercare Planning
As your stay in rehab concludes, you and your counselor will develop a continuing care plan (aftercare) tailored to your progress. Aftercare is crucial as it can significantly lower the chances of drug and alcohol relapse. Your plan will likely encompass social and medical support services, transitional housing (like sober living homes), follow-up therapy and.
FINAL PROCESS
Once an individual completes the aforementioned process and is discharged from the rehab center, BFFDA verifies their chosen vocational trade and enrolls them accordingly. Some of our success stories include individuals working as hairstylists, tailors, masons, and carpenters. For those interested in starting small businesses, we provide funding to help them establish their ventures, as an idle hand is the devil's workshop.
